The working group

UK theatre isn’t working.

Despite some notable exceptions, most of the traditional models for making and touring new work in the UK are hopelessly outdated. Artists are exhausted, venues are struggling and audiences seem harder to reach.

We talk a lot about why this is and what can be done, and there’s no shortage of forums through which to do this. The Working Group is something different. Not a talking shop but a space in which radical ideas can be tested in private, amongst critical friends, before exposure to the world.

The Working Group meets quarterly in South Wales and South West England.
